Rockstar-Puppy.com; when owner Jessica first brought home her hairless Chinese Crested puppy, she was frustrated when shopping for her dog wardrobe involved hours of exploring pet online shops.  Her frustration became her inspiration to launch her own online dog boutique; Rockstar-Puppy.com; "one stop shopping for hip and cool dog items and products".

Victoria: Hi Jessica, when did you first launch Rockstar Puppy?

Jessica: In February of 2009, I picked up my Chinese Crested puppy; Rockstar and launched Rockstar-Puppy.com a few weeks later.

Victoria: This is a very unique idea. Where did this come from? What are some of the reactions you here from people?

For the past ten years, I’ve shopped extensively online and was disappointed to only find a few quality online retailers.  Just before Rockstar’s arrival, I shopped online for his wardrobe and had to place multiple orders from multiple online retailers. There was no one-stop-shop that offered a variety of “hip and cool” items.  It was through my frustration of shopping for dog clothes and accessories that I was inspired to launch Rockstar-Puppy.com.

My Rockstar is such a photo hound, people are instantly attracted to our online shop.  They love Rockstar’s hip look and want the same for their dog.

Every day I receive phone calls and emails from people expressing how much they love Rockstar-Puppy.com’s products.  And yes, they like our quality customer service.  I think it’s very important to provide superior “personable” customer service with our online shop.  Our customers want to know there are human beings behind the computer screen.

Victoria: It seems like the pet-market is a booming industry – and one that is often overlooked. Would you agree? Why do you think people are willing to spend so much money on their pet?

Jessica: There are a variety of reasons people spend enjoy spending lavishly on their pets.  For example, many of our customers boast that they have better relationship with their pet than they do with people. Like President Truman has said, "if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog".

Victoria: In your online photos, I see all small dogs (toy and lap sizes). Could you get products for larger dogs as well?

Jessica: Yes, we do offer several items for larger dogs such as NFL Jerseys, bandanas and Halloween Costumes. In addition, we offer Biker Jackets and motorcycle helmets that fit larger dogs.

Victoria: By exploring your site, you have a wide range of products. What would you consider the most unique items you sell?

Jessica: One of our most unique items is our airbrushed motorcycle dog helmets. We’re one of the only online or brick and mortar pet shops that offers these helmets. We also offer very cool  "one of a kind" vintage dog tees which are handmade using vintage human tees. And, our dog sunglasses, Doggles are also a unique and popular item.

Victoria: Do you just sell products for dogs, or do you have items for cats or other pets?

Jessica: We offer a few cat items, but my main focus is on dog products.   Who knows, if we receive a lot of interest for cat items, we might just launch Rockstar Kitty in the future!  One of my favorite cat items on Rockstar-Puppy.com is a cat bed that is inspired by the "Walk of Fame."  The bed has a pink star and says, "Famous Feline" with a gold crown.

Victoria: As of right now you run just an online boutique. Are there plans to expand soon?

Jessica: Based on consumer shopping and retail trends, I find that most people like the convenience of shopping online.  I’m lucky to have dedicated customers and for now, I’ll keep Rockstar-puppy.com exclusively online as this enables us to cater a larger audience than a brick and mortar shop allows.

Victoria: You also have the boys rock girls rule site that has a similar attitude to infant products. When did this launch?

Jessica: GirlsRuleBoysRock.com was launched  a month ago. My cousin, Lisa Auria-Huffman and I are partners and our children who are between six and nine years old are very involved with this online kids shop. They help us select products and we teach them about e-commerce. It’s a great learning experience for our kids and it’s amazing how engaged they are with the business side of the website.
I’ve just officially announced the launch of my third online shop; a jewelry and custom leather jacket boutique: shopelectrify.com.

Our leather jackets are handmade and each one is unique.  Junker Designs, the designers that do our jackets, have made jackets for dozens of celebrities including Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, Alice Cooper, Steven Tyler and many more.

Victoria: What is your ultimate goal for  your online shops?

Jessica: Life is about having fun. And, I’m having fun with the business and creative aspects of my online shops and dreaming about the bigger picture.
My ultimate goal is to launch other online shops, such as a men’s shop and to merge all my shops into an “online mall” where customers can shop conveniently visit a variety of boutiques and unique brands;  “one stop shopping.”

Victoria:  Thank you Jessica.  I've explored your online boutiques and can confirm first hand you do have some of most unique dog items, kids items and women's leather  jackets and accessories. To learn more about Jessica's online boutiques, visit: www.Rockstar-Puppy.com, www.GirlsRuleBoysRock.com and www.ShopElectrify.com
